Durki is a village of historical significance located in the Nasrullabad Zone of Kamareddy District. Formerly known as Durvasa Maharshi (Atri), one of the Sapta Rishis, lived in the village of Durki and practiced penance. That is why it is said that this town was also named Durki after Durvasu. Somalingeswara Temple is located on the outskirts of Durki village. Historians date the temple to the time of the Kalyani Chanukyas.

During the Kakatiya period, the region of Banswada, Kotagiri and Varni was ruled by a king named Somnath. As the king had no son, Lord Shiva appeared while performing penance at the present temple site and gave birth to a child. History has it that the king named his sons Someshwars after him. It is believed that the temple was built by Someshwar III.

The temple is built entirely of stone. The entrances to Hindu temples are usually on the east side. But the entrance to the temple is on the west side. Locals say that the main Shiva lingam in the temple was about the size of a fist 50 years ago and is growing day by day. The temple also has idols of Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha. In addition to the Ashtamukhi lingam, there are several other lingams in different shapes in the temple premises.

Shivratri celebrations are held in this temple every year. The festival attracts thousands of devotees not only from the district but also from neighboring districts as well as other states like Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka etc. The temple is filled with devotees on the Mondays In the months of Karthika and Magha,

How to Reach:

By Air

At present, there is no functional airport in Kamareddy . The closest airport is Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Airport Nanded, at a distance of 118km and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Hyderabad, at a distance of 176km from Nasrullabad.

By Train

You can reach Kamareddy from Secundrabad(SC) or Kacheguda(KCG) by travelling in a train. Secundrabad to Kamareddy train takes approximately 2 hours 15 minutes. and also You can reach Nizamabad from Secundrabad(SC) or Kacheguda(KCG) by travelling in a train. Secundrabad to Nizamabad train takes approximately 3 hours.

By Road

Durki village is 7kms far from Banswada to wards to Nizamabad and Bodan road, Nizamabad to Durki 45kms, kamareddy to Durki 63km and and is accessible by road.
